We've been working with the same commercial lawyer now for a number of years and we feel as though we get a good service in terms of commercial contract negotiations. We don't have an in house legal team so it has helped us to close contracts which is obviously important in terms of the legal side of the business

What stands out is care; The fact that I got the impression that Anne cared and she was on my side, so I felt a sense of genuineness which I don't think I've ever associated with a lawyer before. It's enabled me to purchase the business, and to be in a much better position both professionally and personally.

It's a combination of things. We're a relatively small business that wouldn't typically retain an in house counsel so having a 'pay per view' type facility works great with our business. We do the same with other sections of our business and legal is an important one. We've been engaged with them since 2012, so for 6 years now. The business is benefited by a number of factors; Cost, control, value for money, speed of execution. It frees up myself and other people in the business to focus on our core business rather than focusing on contractual stuff so we're buying ourselves time. It's pretty optimum for what I need.

I like the flexibility for low cost. We have no requirements for anything like full time legal support so there may be some months we don't need them at all and others where we might need 20 hours, so they charge us a fixed fee for (I think) 5 hours a month and we just flex up and down on that. In terms of general law firms, their advice is on a par, but I haven't used this type of service before. It keeps the costs down and they've been there when we need them. I also like the continuity: We've had the same contact for 4-5 years. If you're dealing with a general firm of solicitors you get cycled around people. For an organisation such as ourselves (SME) who doesn't need oodles of support, it works out well. I'm very happy with what we've had from them.

We've got an in-house legal team, but without the costs and overheads of an in-house legal team. What's not to like?

Quite simply, we have halved our legal costs, and yet have increased the amount of legal support
